Mike Moran - TTV8 Chev Monte Carlo - 6.01 @ 250mph

I'm hunting for video of the run but this has got to be the quickest turbocharged drag car in the world, doesn't it?

4.03 to the 1/8th so it did the second half in sub-2-seconds!

Twin 91mm PTE turbos and 540ci big block power.

definitely the fastest on the 1/4 mile. It would be awesome to see what this engine combo would be capable of in a new, lightweight, purpose built car. off the top of my head, I think it's about 15 years old and was originally an old style, single frame rail Pro Stock car which has now been converted to a rather overweight Pro MOD / Pro Streeter.

http://www.adrl.us/index.php/main/bt...l-andy-jensen/
Jensen has been in the 3s in the 1/8 where much of US racing takes place. Admittedly his combo probably suits that style of racing more (lightweight, single turbo SBC), but none the less, I don't think Moran has been in the 3s yet?

I don't think Jensen will be far behind. He's run the short times to run 5s (3.87 @ 190+) and hasn't raced the 1/4 mile since sorting out some boost leak problems that were only letting him run 6.20s...

I'm lead to believe it's a ~10yo Larry Larson ex-Pro Stock chassis. You're right that it's a long, long way from the new 25.2 stuff that guys are running around in today.

I don't think Moran does a whole hell of a lot of 1/8ths compared to some of the southern guys and the big numbers tend to always come from the 1/4 events (SCSN, E-Town, WSN) etc.

I guess his thinking is that you don't need to run 3's to the 1/8th when you put on 55mph in the back half!!

2850lbs race weight and 198mph to the 1/8th. I would love to see the top end charge on this puppy!

Someone with a Moroso - what's the weight/mph come up as hp-wise?

I don't know as the pair of 91's will support that but hey, what do I know?

I had it pegged as an easy 3000.

Incidentally, he won the final for this meeting on a holeshot - 6.15 beats a 6.13. The low mph on this pass was because quote:

"It blew the tyres off it 5.20 seconds into the run and I had to get out of it and coast."

FUCKINWHOOSH!

i thought a pair of 91's would peg out about 3300hp... but it seems i might be under estimating them, which is tops as i have a 91 on our car

Yeah that's what I was thinking but the people doing it will always outshine the people saying it can't/shouldn't be done. It's funny that other cars have twin 94's in his class and he trumps them by 15mph!

the GT55 is normally a 6sec turbo on the Sport compact cars. so it will suit us good running high 7's

I've got an old ANDRA rule book from the early 90's (can't remember the exact year) and I'm sure it mentions "supercharged, turbocharged or nitrous injected" engines as eligible for Top Doorslammer. Of course that was then, this is now.
