Bloody strong. Nizpro put one behind a 1,000hp XR6T motor to replace the Ford stuff that couldn't handle the power.

Ok fuckers, now you have me interested in these, you need to school me on them. A quick ebay search tells me that they are mainly LSD, cheap, mounts look good, and i assume 3.7's are easy to come by-so they seem perfect!!

What model should i be looking for it to come from?

I want approx a 3.7, LSD (Prefer torsen-are they avail? factory or aftermarket?), prefer alloy case, but steel will be ok. What should i pay $$ wise, where is the best place to buy from?

Thanks Glen

short nose s15 manual LSD is torsen by quaife, just short of 3.7:1 (around 3.65) and can be had for 350 with shafts. Steel housing with an alloy rear cover.

They dont get called the japanese 9" for nothing

Ive bought a few from nissansilvia.com and I have seen them on boostcruising as well. if your not keen on forum trawling (understandable) maybe one of the import places, option 1 is the only place I know of in QLD.

This car has 600ft-lbs of torque. I think they are strong enough.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdjzuU42GWM

If you think an 8 inch isn't big enough (R200), they also make an R230 (larger then 9inch)

This page should give you some light reading on R200/R230 and LSD options
http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=114798

I believe skylines had both r200s and r230s. Factory nissan LSDs came in both Viscous and Clutch (not sure which nissan models had which), but there are several aftermarket type centers for them.

2way clutch-plate R200 into LSx-powered BMW with a strong clutch gets me damp like a big bowl of Columbian high-grade in front of Ms Lohan.

Tim510 - you reckon an S15 diff will cop 400-500rwhp worth of punishment? I thought all the Silvia guys upgraded to GT-R cradles fairly soon after breaching 350hp ATW (when actually using the car at the track/for skids, not just faffing about on dynos).

Ah I thought it was the whole rear-end on the silvias (diff and shafts) that were a weak point and going to the GT-R shit would give a bit of HTFU to both of them.

I've not heard of many R200's breaking... The GTR axles are thicker/bigger, I think 400-500rwhp would be ok, however that kind of power is not going to be kind to anything...

Marv, are you planning on clutch dumping / transbrake launches with wide slicks at the drags?

If its a street car, the first thing you will break is traction....

I'd definitely look at the Nissan late model short-nose R200's... they can be bought for next-to-nix and are pretty decent...

My car will get a flogging as its going to be a car that only exists to get its arse whipped on weekends. I'll be doing more circuit work and be running it on fairly wide (265ish) semi-slicks as I'm going for Ireland Engineering guard flares. It'll also have a diff cooler.

I think the thing that will work in my favour is that my car is going to be around 1100kg (wet) which will hopefully take a bit of strain off the diff. The R200 + Cusco/Kaaz/ATS plated centre sounds like a good option to me.

Ok, so what are R33 LSD centre's like? I can get one for just under $300 with shafts?

Who make custom CV shafts? I need the BMW outer grafted with the Nissan inner.

R33 centres are a viscous LSD.... ok for straight line stuff i suppose, KAAZ, nismo, cusco centres are available on the sik-cunt forums all the time...

custom shaft wise, its a case of calling around to engineering mobs and asking for prices.....

It wouldn't be hard to have a chopper disk made for where the CV's bolt up to the diff flanges and a small bracket to mount the BMW speed sensor (I assume it is hall effect or similar), otherwise you probably can hook up the T56 speedo pulse and have a multiplier/divider box thingo to correct it if need be.

Or would i be better to get some billet stubs made up for the Nissan diff with a BMW type flange??

billet option would certainly be the easiest, but probably the most expensive.

having a think about the speedo thing, depending on who did your loom, they usually leave a speed signal out wire in the loom for hooking up to electronic speedos etc. the ouput can be changed in the tune to get the speedo right.

if you jokers think an r200 is not up to the job then you can try an r230 as they as standard equipment in pathfinders.

I'd like to see a street car snap a set of late model r200 driveshafts, let alone a centre.

so out of curiosity are these nissan diffs/axles stronger then the xr6t axles that seem to snap like twigs once you wind the wick up?

or do xr6t just have too many torques for anything less then billet replacement axles?

R230 comes in IRS form in Z32 300zx's as well..

i SERIOUSLY doubt you'd break one!

Close. Simon replaced the rear end in his ute because he's a pedantic perfection bastard who obviously needs a hobby. IE decided he didn't like live axle rear ends so put the entire R33 GTR rear end in it... which is an R200. Think that ute made around 450rwkw and Nizpro over engineer everything so there's a fair chance Simon didn't view it as going to break any time soon, and xr6t motor seems to be the current choice for trying to break the unbreakable.

I would guess it's too many torque. I believe the smash CV joints and the rubber bit in the tailshaft.

Anyway Turbo351, but a R200 diff in it and sell the car to me. This car is way cool.
