4AGE into a toyota corona
Hello everyone... I have a toyota corona xt130 fitted with a full body kit, and with a fresh paint. I am just wondering on whether its worth keeping the stock starfire motor and giving it extractors and new carby cam etc or is it worth getting a 4age 20valve silver top conversion done. How much would the conversion be all up? And are there places that do it in Brisbane or Gold coast

Too many variables. Doing the work yourself or paying someone?
Find out the legalities there's probably a bigger (better) motor you could shove in it. 20v's don't have much torque and wouldn't be great in a heavier car.

Paying someone (Place) I was wondering what kind of place I could go to do the conversion. What do you suggest over the 4age then?

4AGZE would be a much nicer thing to drive.

+ one million
also its keping with the theme, the misfire is a cut down 6 cylinder commodore motor and we all know the SR20 is just a cut down RB30, which is also a commodore motor. any pics of your ride j-dawg? i'm sure an Xt130 with a full bodykit would look sick! |

If you're after serious HP then SR20 would be the way to go.
I'm tossing up atm whether to build 4AGTE or just suck it up and SR20DET my AE71

I can do the transplant for you, no matter what engine you decide on.
Got an engineer that can blue-plate it as well. Can get just about any amount of power out of the engine you want, too.

I've got a well priced 3SGE Beams engine and 6MT that would go well in that and not be a tractor engine. Can also fit, wire and blue plate. Will cost plenty though.

SR20.
easy choice. and with all the s13 crossmember and bits and pieces it's suposed to be a relative easy conversion. i sold all my stuff to a guy who was doing the same thing in sydney. there are a few of them on the road all engineered.

+1 a stockish 4age isn't exciting on it's own.. you'll want more soon enough, and the cost/effort of getting it in there you may as well put something more exciting in there (or at least put a turbo fully built one in there).
I reckon you should speak to Bill.. |

XT130 ... that's the Celica that matched the Mk2 Supra innit?
Could a cheapie conversion therefore be a 7M or even 1JZ?

After some Googling, it seems I was referring to an ST140.
The 'ST' confuses me a little, because the inference is that it used an S-series engine, hence a 3SGTE would be a bolt-in. But - I don't know that they did? Having said that, an XT130 would equate to a Mk1 Celica Supra which would theoretically mean an M-series should fit (and hence maybe a JZ). But - I'm presuming mounts & crossmembers & the like for a Mk1 aren't uber-common?

the closest chassis a XT130 would compare to is the RA23/28/40 celica all of which came with 4cylinder engines. the ST141 also came with a 4cylinder 2S-C (but bog whiner gearbox and diff not anything you'd want to bolt a 3S-GTE in front of.) thats not to say people havent put 7M's and 1JZ'e into them, but it IS to say that a 7M or a 1JZ will not bolt in to an XT130 as easy as it would a Mk2 supra as u infer.

There's an ST141 with a 3SGE in IPRA. I'd love to do something like that. Dirty Nissan is probably cheaper and easier.
There was an AA14x in Japan. While I don't think the 4AGE would be that exciting, the 20V came out of cars that had roughly the same weight as a 'rona. Hell, the 4AGE was one of the options for the 'high performance' spec GTTs, the other being the 3T-GTE. |

I'm sure I've asked you about this previously but it appears I am being given my sisters e30 318i with a tired drivetrain and with the upcoming sale of the falcon I'm considering options for a conversion to a cheap but reliable daily. What are you chasing for the beams setup and does it come with loom, computer, etc sundry bits to make it run? Sump config would be nice to know too.

Not sure if we are trolling here, but regardless a 4A-anything is a shithouse idea.
If you are going to the trouble & cost I think you would be silly to fit anything other than an SR20DET. It won't be cheap but it is certainly the smartest choice and one of the easiest conversions. The Beams 3SGE is a great thing but I think it would be wasted on an XT130 Corona, it really needs to go into something at least halfway cool like an RA28 or something.
