One Low beam light not working on Commodore.
The car is a Commodore VY Acclaim and is stock.
Lights on to Park all is OK. Lights on to low and the drivers side is not illuminated but the passenger's side is OK. Lights on to high beam and all lights are on including the one not working when the lights are just on low beam. What the hell is going on? Bulb is OK and the high beam side is fine. Dodgy earth...corroded terminal...something else all together? Any help appreciated since I know SFA about anything electrical. Cheers , Pete. |

The lights normally have the seperate circuits joining at the back of the headlight. Id grab a multimeter and see if youre getting power at the connection point, if not, look at the switch on the dash/stalk, if so, look at the the terminals.
Keep in mind some bulbs have 2 filaments so just because it lights up on a different setting doesnt mean its not blown.

Basing all this on my knowledge of a VP.
Fuse box in the engine bay has separate fuses for left and right headlights. Fitting high wattage bulbs e.g. 90/130W bulbs will kill the fuse/relay/wiring in that order. They are designed to cope with 55/60W bulbs. The earth for a lot of stuff in the engine bay above the battery on the passenger side is quite often a cause for concern. Just check that it's clean and tight.

Check all the relays are there in the fuse box, I know of at least one VY wagon hire car that might be missing a headlight relay.
